I am a retired US Army Major.   I have lived all over the world, but I chose to live in the Black Hills.  My wife and I live in Rochford and ride our horses straight off our property into the National Forest.  These hills are a natural wonder and should be preserved for future generations to enjoy as much as we do." - John L. Hopkins, MAJ (ret) US Army

The benefits of joining this effort include maintaining the economic and recreational assets of our area – for the long haul.  Determine the future of the Black Hills!

As an avid kayaker, I know that Rapid Creek and Pactola Reservoir are truly recreational gems.  Rapid Creek offers some wonderful whitewater paddling. The canyon is unique and the best moving water in the Black Hills with something for everyone, from class 1 and 2 boogie water to impressive drops.  Jenny Gulch and Bear Gulch are amazing places to paddle, see wildlife, enjoy some solitude in nature, or wet a fishing line.” - Justin Herreman
